NextPage Offers Folio-to-XML Converter

Previously Sold as a Services Offering, Folio-to-XML Converter Now Available as a Stand-Alone Software Package

Draper, Utah – Dec. 10, 2003 – NextPage Inc. today announced that the Folio-to-XML Converter is available as a stand-alone software package for the NXT™ and Folio® product suites. Previously, the Folio-to-XML solution was sold as a combined software and services offering. Now, customers of any NextPage product wanting to publish Folio content online can purchase the software.

“The Converter saves customers the time and hassle of manually converting Folio information into an online format,” said Grant Beckmann, general manager of NextPage’s applications group. "With this new option, customers can retain their existing Folio production processes while leveraging the benefits of XML and online publishing.”

The Folio-to-XML Converter enables Folio customers to convert proprietary Folio infobases into XML, so that content can be published online with NXT or another method. With the Converter, users can continue to use Folio products to create and manage information while delivering content collections on CD/DVD and online as part of the same production process.

Using a Folio-specific schema, the Converter creates a representation of the Folio content in XML. Additional transformations to convert the XML to another schema may be applied with the assistance of NextPage Product Services or a NextPage® Partner. Additionally, the Folio-to-XML Converter creates a style sheet that mimics the formatting of the infobase. These style sheets handle all of the Folio-style links, objects, tables and general presentation effects. Finally, the Folio-to-XML Converter creates an NXT-compatible file for creating an NXT content collection directly from the Folio-to-XML Converter output.
