Travelers Replaces Database Application with NextPage LivePublish

NextPage™ Technology Gives National Underwriter Ability to Deliver Updated Insurance and Financial Planning Information to Customers

Provo, Utah - August 30, 1999 - NextPage, LC, the leading provider of Internet publishing solutions to commercial and corporate publishers, today announced a major sale of its LivePublish Internet publishing software to Travelers Property Casualty (NYSE: TAP). Travelers replaced a legacy database application with NextPage LivePublish, a more effective, Y2K-compliant solution, giving employees and insurance agents worldwide the ability to access the company's massive set of insurance underwriting guidelines over the Internet. The entire implementation, including several custom modifications to the LivePublish interface, took just five working days. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

The contract with Travelers is the largest since the July 1, 1999 transfer of Folio technology by Open Market, Inc. to a group of private investors, which resulted in the formation of NextPage, LC. NextPage CEO Brad D. Pelo hailed the agreement as a sign of things to come, saying, "NextPage brings more than 13 years of electronic publishing experience and technology development to bear on the needs of corporate and commercial electronic publishers such as Travelers. Developing significant, mission-critical applications in five days isn't something we recommend, but being able to do so speaks volumes about the robust flexibility of the LivePublish platform and the capabilities of our sales engineering and consulting staff."

Travelers' LivePublish application, called "Forms Online," contains a reference library of key endorsement and policy forms text covering 11 commercial insurance lines. Writing guidelines from lines as diverse as agribusiness, general liability and workers compensation are all available to agents and employees through a single, Web-based search interface.

Walt Zilahy, Travelers' vice president of Information Systems, Distributed Environments Division, said the LivePublish solution helped Travelers keep a promise to customers that all systems would be Y2K-compliant by June 30, 1999. "As long-time users of NextPage's Folio technology, we were confident that LivePublish could ensure that our "Forms" application was Y2K-compliant and would give us the searching and data management capabilities we needed. We determined that NextPage's LivePublish product not only met our requirements but would meet our deadline within budget."

Travelers' LivePublish implementation included several custom modifications to the user interface to help ease users' concerns about migrating from a familiar terminal-emulation interface to the rich, browser-based LivePublish interface. For example, the system's toolbar and search functions were greatly simplified, and certain table of contents navigation features were modified to make it possible to restrict searches to particular sections of the manual without having to use LivePublish's more powerful, but more complex, advanced search template. Another user interface modification was the addition of a "help" button on the toolbar which links to a customized help file for agent users.

"The product's conversion tools made it possible to preserve all of the familiar structure of the "Forms" environment and the flexibility of the interface allowed us to present the information in a form that was easy to adopt," said Zilahy. "We're pleased with the project's final results."
